Today in news:

Sinkholes. Ok ano masasabi ko about sinkholes? That they're scary. And that they can be totally unpredictable. Can be human-induced. Happens kapag may void sa ground which everything around it drains.

BadAstronomy: Phil Plait is just totally awesome. Galing niya magsulat, nakakainspire. Halos lahat ng articles niya tinitweet ko haha. People, just follow him already! :)) Read about how long stars' lifespan are (billions of years). Can't believe na ngayon lang talaga naghit sakin how really, really, extremely long that is. Some even go up to trillions. Shet the time! Anyway mainly dinisprove niya yung usual saying na "Some stars you are seeing are actually dead." Stars have a fucking long lifespan and the stars you see are just thousands to tens of thousands lightyears away-just a short amount of time sa kanilang billions of years lifespan. So, it makes sense na marami paring stars na alive, and those that will die is just an exception. It is, however, true that you're looking at the past when you look at them (or at anything, really, because light needs to travel), and that's what really hit me about the universe una palang (nung nabasa ko yung Sophie's World): The amazement of gazing back at the past.

Meron din siyang sinulat about climate change and how staggering the melting of ice are, compared to years before 2000. Narealize ko tuloy shet wala naman akong ginagawa about this climate change. Recent projections say na magmemelt ang ice before 2100, even mga 30 years from now and WHOA ang bilis nun. @_@

May article din siya about a milky way picture taken by a person responsible for TWAN (The World at Night) and he goes around the world photographing the night sky in different, popular landscapes to make people appreciate the night sky better. I'd like to do that too. Pero sa Philippines muna hihi. Tagal ko nang plan yun actually. Haay kelangan talaga matupad ang aking PH80 travel! Nightsky and underwater photog shet. Makes me wet. HAHAHA

Reading the BadAstronomy blog at Slate lead me to other Slate articles: How humans can outdistance certain animals like horses - ibig sabihin human bodies are capable of long-distance running because apparently we have a very efficient heat dissipation system. Other animals need to stop and pant. And also malaki pala ang butts natin so that we can have more stability while walking with two legs. Never connected that before. Naisip ko tuloy oo nga no, yung mga flamingoes or chickens anlaki ng butts hahaha.

May article din about why the hell swimsuits are so expensive. Because kelangan daw geared sila for all kinds of activities - water, sun, sand etc and may certain seasons and stretchy ang fabric which is more costly. Before, makakabili ka ng pattern to make your own swimsuit. Naimagine ko lang yun ano, grabe kung gagawin mo talaga lahat ng susuotin mo tapos pattern lang bibilhin mo, shet sobrang time consuming. Might be fun though. Grabe yung conveniences natin today - what with technology and online shopping. And we take them for granted :))

May dalawa pa kong blogs na kelangan basahin hahah. Hanggang dito nalang muna :)
